CONGRATULATIONS LAREN!!!!

Laren has been working so hard these last 4 months (starting school at 6:30 am getting home around 6pm EVERY night) attending the Fort Myers Fire Academy and it is finally over!
He graduated last night!!! I couldn't be prouder of him.

Family Night

Last night Laren had family night at his acedemy. It was really cool to see all that he has learned in such a short time. Unfortunately I came right from work and wasn't able to stop home to get my camera. I am waiting for a friend to email me some pictures. My Latest Obsession

I went to my first jewelry party Friday night. I have heard a lot about them and was actually quite excited to go. I knew going into it that I would come out purchasing something. At least it was something I wanted (there is nothing worse than going to a Mary Kay or Pampered Chef party when you are in absolutely no need no new make up or kitchen products.)

This was a Park Lane party hosted by my brother-in-law's sister, I don't really know exactly what that makes her to me but I still refer to her as my sister-in-law. It started off like a usual house party with all the girls sitting around and the host showcasing her product. As she passed around the jewelry, I was amazed at how much I actually liked it. Not only was each piece beautiful but there was a variety for everyone there. She also talked about what celebrities where spotted wearing what pieces, this immediately got my attention!

The piece I loved was this pink and purple genuine swarovski crystal bracelet with a price tag of $495.00. My immediate thought was "oh my gosh..... what can is the cheapest thing I can purchase at his party?" I was thinking maybe I could come away with some stud earnings or something that wouldn't break the bank.

To make a long story short they have this great deal that made it possible for me to purchase a few things at a decent price. I walked away with the 4 pieces below....

This picture doesn't do the necklace justice at all . It is a petite ball of Genuine Austrian Crystals.... It is so dainty.
I can't stop looking at the catalog and picking out what I want in the future. Plus if I host my own party I get a couple hundred dollars of free product. Maybe that is when I can purchase that beautiful purple bracelet.

I just thought I would post the pictures from our trip to the beach yesterday with my sister and her little ones. This weekend we went to Sanibel Island. I feel like a lot of our posts are the same.... pictures about what we do on the weekends. I am trying to be better about this whole blogging thing but the week days are so crazy and go by so fast it seems that the only time I get to sit down and blog is on the weekend. Siesta Key

Since we have lived here I have heard so many people talk about this place called Siesta Key. I knew it was one of the places I wanted to go while we are living here is Florida so yesterday Laren and I decided to spend the day there. It's a little island off the coast of Sarasota about an hour north of where we live. The beaches were so beautiful. I have never seen such a blue/green water before.

The only thing is that it was pretty cold. On Friday it was 81 degrees here so the beach sounded amazing. We still had a lot of fun though. We played catch on the beach, collected sea shells with our niece, Keira, and ate lunch and got ice cream at the local stores on the main beach walk.

That night my sister and her husband invited us to go with them to listen to one of their favorite local bands at this restaurant...
It's called Brew Babies.

The music was absolutely amazing. What was even crazier was that we sat right next to these two people.......

Ema Alagic and the Emir Bukovica (the lead singer of Emir and Frozen Camels). Emir is a rock star from Bosnia and Ema is his super model girlfriend.

Colorado Trip

Laren and I recently took a trip to Colorado... well actually he is still there and will be coming back to Florida this Friday. Here are the pics and a quick recap of some of the things we did the weekend I was there with him.

We took him mom to lunch at our all time favorite thai restaurant for her birthday. If you ever get a chance to eat here in Colorado. It is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!

GET MOTIVATED

Today I had the chance to go to the Get Motivated Seminar. "The GET MOTIVATED Seminar is an action-packed, fun-filled, explosive, exciting, inspiring, skill-building business event that is world famous for its mega-watt superstar speakers and spectacular stage production. This blockbuster one-day seminar will give you proven strategies to sharpen your business skills, ignite your motivation, accelerate your effectiveness and increase your income!" (so that last section was taken right off their website because I thought they could explain it better than me)

It was honestly such a neat experience. We had great seats and were able to see...

I was amazed at how so cheap the tickets were. Only $10 for the whole office to go.

If you do get the opportunity to attend this seminar I would definitely recommend it!!!

Sorry if this post is a little long. Time has flown by so quickly. I have been working so hard lately (putting in a lot of 10 hour days) trying to build my referral sources. Laren had been working hard too trying to get himself enrolled in a fire academy by March or April. He has also gotten into something called Cross Fit which he is so passionate about. Other than that here is a quick update about everything Laren and I have done these last new months.

NOVEMBER

Laren and I had the chance to go to back to Parowan, Utah to visit his family for Thanksgiving. They have an AMAZING cabin called Little Creek (pronounced Little Crick) It was such a nice break from work and a nice break for Laren and I. We were both so excited to see family and mountains!

Unfortunately his brothers and sisters could not make it. Seth (his sisters husband) had just accepted a new job as an accountant for a jewelry store which required him to work the day after Thanksgiving in Colorado. And his Brother's family couldn't make it because they were too close to bringing this new addition to the family. Tru Turnbaugh (Born December 7, 2010)

December

December was quite the month. LAREN GRADUATED EMT SCHOOL!!!!!!

Also, In my line of work December is one of the craziest months of the year because everyone I market to throws some sort of Christmas Party. I think Laren and I attended an event almost every weekend that whole month. I also had an event of my own. I, along with one of my best friends Jennifer Pagels, threw our first Charity Event! It was called Stocking up Hope. All the details are still on our blog http://www.stockinguphope.blogspot.com/. We had 5 non-profit organizations participate: the local YMCA, Avow Hospice, Veterans Association, Autism Speaks, and Alzheimer Association. It was such a learning experience and we cannot wait to do it again next year!

Then of course we had CHRISTMAS. Since we celebrated Thanksgiving with Laren's family we decided to do Christmas with mine this year. On Christmas Eve we decided to take a boat out to this island called Cabbage Key. We saw lots of dolphins on our boat ride out there.

We ate at this resturant which is famous for their cheeseburgers. The Jimmy Buffet song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" song was written about this restaurant and island.

This trip wasn't perfect though. Actually my brother-in-law (Matt) who was driving the boat happened to drive into water that was too shallow and we got stuck. Both Laren and my brother were such troopers. They jumped in a were able to push the boat into deeper water. They were freezing though. The weather wasn't really warm it was probably in the 70's which in a boat, with the wind, seems a lot cooler.

January

This month has just flown by. Laren and I had the chance to meet one of my friends from high school that was visiting Naples for lunch last weekend. It's always nice to meet with with people who are visiting the area. People often stay in Naples because it is so relaxing and not as fast paced as Miami.

We are also planning on going back to Colorado to visit Laren's family. We haven't seem them in what seems like forever. We are so excited to see the nieces and nephews. We are really excited to meet little TRU and... Isabella (born August 1, 2010) Isabella is Crystal's (Laren's sister) little girl.

Colorado here we come in less than ONE WEEK!!!!

Key West

Laren and I went to Key West last weekend. Usually both of us are pretty content with being low key on the weekends, but this was a much needed break. It was so nice to spend a few days together and get away from work and school. We went down there with my sister and her husband last Friday. They are quite experienced when it comes to that place so they were able to show us around a bit and take us to some of their favorite places. I am waiting for her to email me all the pictures she took, but below are some pictures of where we stayed and some of the places we went.

We stayed in a hotel called the Silver Palms. They had just opened the weekend we were there and we were the first guests to ever stay in our room. It was so nice (very modern and very green)

On Friday Night we went to Mallory Square. It is right on the water and as the sun sets all kinds of people come out and perform for money. Growing up close to San Francisco, I wasn't to excited to go because I always see performers every time I go to the city. However, these people had talents and acts that I have never before seen. It was actually so much fun.
This guy above was completely out of his mind. He called us up to be part of his show. Me describing him wont even give him justice. He does have videos on youtube though if you search for "cat man in key west"...... wow

We spent all day Saturday on Duvall Street shopping. It was so beachy and so fun!

That is our trip in a nutshell, seeing as it was a really quick one. We left early Sunday morning so we could have some time to regroup and get ready for work Monday.

ITS ABOUT TIME

It's about time that I update this thing.... seeing as it is going on ONE YEAR!!!!

The purpose of this post is just to bring this blog it up to date and current. Laren and I graduated college this year! I actually finished classes this April but walked for graduation with Laren in July. I graduated in business management and Laren graduated in Construction Management with an associates in Architecture. School is all Laren and I really know so it is so nice to be done and move on to the next chapter of our lives.

Currently we are living in Fort Myers, Florida. I accepted a job in Naples doing sales and marketing for a company called Direct Care Home Health. The location couldn't be better. Right on the beach, warm weather, and surrounded by water. My job consists of socialising, doing physician lunches, and finding creative ways to make friends with people in the medical community. It can be frustrating and hard at times but I truly love it and appreciate how it challenges me. Laren is currently attending Edison College. He will be completing EMT school and starts the fire academy in January. He truly loves it and it is a nice change from the schooling he was previously doing.

Apologies for not updating my blog sooner. My life was been pretty boring seeing as it consist of working all day, spending the night getting ready for work the next day, them going to bed AND starting all over!!! HOWEVER.... because this blog is designed to update everyone on both Laren and me.... I thought I would write about what Laren has been up to.

He has rediscovered his absolute LOVE for reading! He has read so much since we have been here in Florida. Below is just a few of his favorites.

Busch Gardens

Last Weekend Laren and I went to Busch Gardens with my sisters family. It was so much fun to ride a rollar coater again. I haven't been on one since I was in high school. We actually sat in the front row of the one in the picture above.

Busch Gardens also has a lot of really exotic animals. We saw HUGE aligators. I would NEVER want to come across one of those in the wild.

It is so much fun to have a break from school.

This is a picture of the exact rugby team Laren just joined. He is playing for the Naples Hammerheads (the green team). He made their A team and is currently playing wing (number 14) They are a traveling team and he already has had a game in Orlando. At the end of this month we are going to Tampa to play in the Florida cup. Wish him luck!!!

Lost Love

So as many know Laren and I are doing our internships right now. Well... my internship is about 60% driving from medical center to medical center. My sister recently bought me a navigation system to help me get around a little easier which takes up the one plug in the entire car (hint hint No iPod) and I definitely don't have any CDs out here which means my only option is this...

AND I LOVE IT!!!

I forgot about the variety of music that is played on the radio. For the last couple years Laren and I always listen to his iPod or whatever Cds we have in the car. The radio has all kinds of music that I haven't heard in SO long either because they are older or I am just not interested in actually buying their CD.

Examples Being Artist like: Kings of Leon (I would buy their CD), Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, UB40, Journey, Usher, Alison Krauss, Etc.

If you haven't listened to the radio is a while.... give it a shot!

Fishing

Yesterday Laren and I had the opportunity to go ocean fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. We were 40 miles out from the shore in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. Laren was able to catch tons of really big fish, as for me... not so much. None of my fish were big enough to keep. Here are the picture of some of the fish Laren caught along with a group photo of everyone that was there.
Even more that fishing MY favorite part of the day was enjoying all that we saw out in the ocean.

Today's Adventrures

Today was my first official day of work with GE Medical and Home Oxygen. It was so exciting. I had the opportunity to go down to Naples, Florida and help give an in service to nurses(training that the nurses have to take every 6 months). I was able to make some great contacts that should give me a good head start on my internship.

While I was at work... the boys had a "guys day". Pretty much this means the guys go do something really fun while the girls do their own thing AND watch all the kids. Laren went fishing with Cody, Matt and Jared. It was Laren's first time fishing from a boat and HE HAD A BLAST!!! He also caught two fish. Here is a picture of the bigger of the two.After fishing the boys came home and we went out to the Bone Fish. It was Delightful!!! Here are the picture from the restaurant along with the muscles we ordered. It was Laren and I's first time eating them.
Lastly, we came home to a night of Video games and nose peels.

Overall a FUN FUN day!!!!

Sanibel Island

Today we spent the day on the beach in Sanibel. I was just B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Sanibel is a little island right off the coast of southeast Florida. It is the Most shelled beach in the entire world. Here are some pictures of our day including the shells that Laren found in the ocean.

Off to Florida

Laren and I have had a blast hanging out in Colorado for the last couple weeks. We were able to celebrate Tytan (our nephew's) 5th birthday. Join in on a couple family BBQs and spend two weeks with absolutely no work or school.

Tonight we are leaving for Florida for our internships! Anyone that knows me can attest to how excited I am about it. We will be in Fort Myers only minutes away from the beach! This will such an adventure for Laren and I.

Laren will be working for a contractor down there and I will be doing medical sales and office work for a company called GE Medical!

Down For The Count

About a week ago Laren sprained his ankle (really bad). It's been hard getting around and just doing little daily activities. Here is the story of how it all happened:

Laren was playing in a competitive baseball game and stepped on the base wrong. His ankle rolled over on itself. He fell to the ground and thought he might be able to get up and "run it off." He ran out to right field (he was on first) and promptly fell to the ground again. Not even 5 minutes later He was escorted to the car and we were off to the hospital. We rushed into the ER and they were scared that he had shattered his ankle. (It seriously look like he has a full grapefruit under the side of his right ankle) They immediately took X-rays to see if he needed surgery. With a cast, crutches and some vicoden we were sent home to rest and ice his ankle.

Now that it is a week later, things are getting a little better. He is able to horrible around a little and is able to deal with the pain now to get through classes. We are so blessed that 1. his ankle wasn't broken, 2. that Laren didn't need surgery, and 3. for modern day medicine.

If you would like to see what his ankle looked like google a "Grade 3 Sprained Ankle." I would post pictures but they are a little disturbing.

YEAH FOR SUMMER !!!

Laren and I love to golf and we took the chance to do so as soon as the sun came out. It was so much fun but we both were soooo burnt by the end of the day. Luckily Laren tans easily but I am still burnt 5 days later :(.

I have made a commitment to do my best to update our blog more frequently… So here it goes!!!

Laren and I have been so incredibly busy this year (hence why there have been no new posts since November). As most of you know we are back in Idaho attending school. Laren is taking a ton of credits, including one extremely hard architecture class, and I am taking the integrated business core this semester.

We are so ready to graduate. ONLY TWO MORE SEMESTERS!!! We are also so tired of Rexburg. The cold and snow really do start to wear on you after a while. On a better note, summer is approaching which means... warm weather, lots of scooter riding, and Laren playing baseball.

We do have quite a bit coming up in these next few weeks as well. On Monday (2 days from now) Laren has his preliminary evaluation for a library he has been designing all semester... WISH HIM LUCK!!! We are spending the next weekend in Sun Valley Idaho as a resort with my father. The Thursday after we come home we finish up the semester and then head to SLC to pick up my mom (I haven't seen her in what seems like forever). She will be visiting us for 5 days and then the day after she leaves Laren's parents are coming into town.

THIS CRAZY WEEK

This last week has been absolutely insane full of pure joy and extreem sadness. Brynn (my sister-in-law) called the week before last to tell us she was heading to the hospital having contraction every two minutes. The whole family was excited to head down there and see a new little baby be born but unfortunately she was in "false labor". Nothing looked false about it to me. I guess that just mean your body is having real contractions but it's doing absolutely nothing for your body. I watched her for an entire week have contractions EVERY two minutes without fail...and that alone scared me enough to wait a couple more years.

She then went back to the hospital the following Wednesday (which would be a week ago from yesterday) and this time for real we thought it was a sure thing. But... she was still only dialated 3 centimeters. We were all terribly sad to think she had to go home once again and deal with this pain even more. How could anyone be in labor that long?

That same night we recieved a call from family in Parowan telling us Grandpa Arthur(Helen's dad) had passed away. I have never seen Laren so bothered about anything in my life. Questions were racing through everyone's head.... How could this be? What about the baby? Can we make it all the way to Utah to the funeral in the next few days? What about Grandma?

WELL (TO MAKE IT SHORT) THINGS WORKED OUT PERFECTLY

Brynn was induced early Friday morning. Larry, Helen, Casey, Brynn's adorable parents and myself were in the room when little Faith Taylor entered this world. What a remarkable expierence to witness something like that. She is beautiful, healthy and perfect!

Brynn was supposed to be released from the hospital Sunday morning but for some reason was released Saturday night. Casey was able to take her home and get her comfortable. Early Sunday morning Laren, Casey and I headed out to Utah. We made it time for the viewing. I have never in my life seen somone who looked so peaceful, happy and youthful. Grandpa looked better than anyone expected.

The funeral really opened my eyes to how blessed I really am. I married into a family that has such a legacy and closeness to them. It is sad that it takes something like death to help you realize what you really have.

The family came to the conclusion that there was good reason why Faith didn't come when she was supposed to. Grandpa was a one of kind guy, with love for every single person he came across especially his family. He had his time to hold little Faith and tell her how much he loved her!

Laren's 24th Birthday

Laren's birthday this year turned out to be a 3 day celebration.

FRIDAY (day 1)

Laren's real birthday was on Saturday, the 4th, but we both were schedualed to work two totally different shifts that day. Lukily we were both able to work things out to where we both had Friday off. I had this whole day planned and was so excited that I couldn't sleep the night before. I woke up around 8 o'clock and decorated the room and wrapped all his birthday gifts. I then ran up stairs and made him breakfast to take to him in bed (waffles topped with raspberries and blackberries with raspberry syrup on the side, a blueberry muffin, and chocolate milk). After Laren opened his gifts from me we got ready and went shopping for new outfits to wear to the show that night. Around 5 o'clock we ate at our favorite Tai resturant AGAIN and we off to downtown denver. We walked the 16th street mall and then watched the Last Comic Standing World Tour. The comedians were so funny and both of us had a blast.

SATURDAY (day 2)

Laren's real birthday. Laren went to work in the morning and I was working the closing shift. He got off around 7 and my manager decided randomly to let me go early, probably realizing that Laren was off and it was going to be a slow night. We rushed to Red Robins to get a real birthday dinner in. After dinner we got a call from Helen, Laren's mom, telling us that Brynn was going into labor. Helen and Larry returned home saying that she was there but it wasn't time for us to go. Thinking we were going to be seeing our new niece that night Helen and Larry gave Laren all his birthday gifts. Turns out Brynn was in false labor.

SUNDAY (day 3)

Sunday was the day we acutally planned to celebrate Laren's birthday as a family. After dinner everyone came over and we opened more gifts and had an amazing ice cream cake.

The weekend was so much fun for everyone! Laren and I really enjoyed our time together and the family was excited that he was here in Colorado. For Laren past three birthdays he has been in Chile.

Laren and I both opened at work today. We both sold a decent amount which is excellent seeing as we work on commission! After work today Laren and I headed out to the property, grabbing some Subway on the way, where Helen and Larry are building their new home. The whole family was out there helping dig some trenches for the sewer lines. For about the first 30 minutes Larry, Casey, and Laren were all digging by hand with little shelves and then all of the sudden Larry pulled up in the biggest excavator I have ever seen (OR... maybe they just look a lot bigger up close). I was amazed that Larry even knew how to control something that big. Then before long to my surprise Laren was in the drivers seat picking up dirt, turning the big contraption 360 degrees and dumping the dirt behind him. You would think that someone had to go to some kind of schooling to learn how to properly maneuver a contraption that big. Not my Husband!!! I swear he amazes more and more each day. I wish I had a camera to take a picture but unfortunately I wasn't prepared. I did, however, find the picture above... this is the exact excavator that he was driving!

GO McCAIN

I just got done watching the debate tonight. I thought that McCain did a wonderful job! I was kind of disturbed by all the comments made after about "Obama's great performance." Obama is nothing but empty promises and words of flattery. If anyone has taken a basic Economics class it wont be hard to realize that only failure follows Obama's "Promises" to turn this country around. Obama simply speaks what the people want to hear.

Although McCain may be a little rougher around the edges, he is who he is. He speaks the truth and tells it straight!

An Early Celebration

So my 21st Birthday isn't till Saturday but... Helen and Larry were heading out of town to Utah today so last night we had a big family get together. For dinner we had Salsa Chicked (one of my favorites that Helen makes) with my favorite Salad. Helen bought me a couple peices of cheesecake (which was an extra treat because no one else in the family really likes it) and...made an excelent dessert for everyone else. I had told her that I wanted ice cream with chocolate chip cookies becuase I'm not the hugest fan of cake. She made everyone a cookie ice cream cake dipped in crunchy chocolate. It was soo good!

After dessert we opened presents. Laren bought me a couple pairs of jeans and 3 different shirts. Crystal and Seth surprised me with a little spa basket that had really cute nail polish put all together in a new make-up bad. Brynn and Casey fulfilled a desire I have been having for a while by buying me a meat pounder ( I know sounds weird but you should see the variety of different utensiles I have been pounding chicken with the last year to make dinner) along with an emergency purse kit. Helen and Larry really surprised me by getting me 2 new bags (a maxx new york bad and a cute new red school bad) 2 jackets, 5 shirts, and a really cute church dress.

Our First Anniversary

Our one year anniversary was quite interesting. The morning started off with Laren going to work and me sleeping in. He was supposed to get off around 5 o'clock but called around 1pm to tell me that he was coming home early! With no make up on, my hair not done, no plans for the night, and even worse no gifts to give my wonderful husband I kind of started to freak out. Even wrose I DON'T KNOW MY WAY AROUND COLORADO!!! AHHHHH

With help from my mother-in-law I was able to put things together. Laren arrived home with twelve beautiful roses! After getting ready we headed to the driving range, one of our favorite things to do, and hit a bucket of balls. Afther dressing up we then headed off to dinner. We ate at the Melting Pot in old down town littleton. Out waiter was amazing and so was the food! The atmosphere of the resturant was just perfect. We choose the spinach and atrichoke cheese dip, which was delicious with green apples, after salad and the main course we enjoyed turtle chocolate fondue!!!We had plans to go to the movies but we're so stuffed and tired after dinner that we just headed home. We ate the top of our cake from our wedding and suprisingly, for it being frozen for one year, didn't taste so bad.

Big lesson learned DON'T PROCRASTINATE BIG EVENTS! However, over all the night turned out to be just perfect!

It's time to get serious now that school is over are we are back in Colorado. We're heading back to work! We are so grateful that we were able to get our jobs back at Nordstrom. We both got the call yesterday. I had my first day today and Laren starts tomorrow. That place really is a blessing!!! This year Laren will be working at the Rail (it will be a big change seeing as last year he worked in women's shoes) and I will be working in B.P. We are so excited!!! Not only do we get to work around amazing people but we are around what we seem to love most...clothes! We can't really complain about the money either....GO NORDSTROM!!!!

FISHING

Yesterday(after completeing a business law test that I didn't read a single chapter for) Laren and I decided that fishing would be a great way to enjoy the one day of sunshine we have had here in Rexburg for a long time. He has wanted to go for a while anyways. We went down to K-Mart because we heard that the lady there will give out-of-state people fishing licences if they say that they are in the process of claiming residnency. (That didn't work to well because the store manager was the one who ended up ringing us up) So we bought Laren a day-pass and then headed out to find where we were going to fish. We found this little place that is off the Snake River that a lot of locals fish at. Laren caught a fish with his second cast we had only been there like 5 minutes... it was a pretty big one too. You can see what my fishing consists of from the picture. We tried cooking it for dinner that night but we soon realized that neither one of us really knew how to felet at fish. We ended up with scales everywhere, hardly any meat, and a lot of fish guts in our kitchen. sounds fun huh?

I decided to start one of these things for Laren and I seeing as just about everyone I know has one..... including my best friends mom. So here it is! I will try to stay on top of writing what is going on in our lives and being better at taking pictures. Maybe this will give me some incentive!
